❤
I live far from Navajo territory, however, I live across the freeway from a reservation. There was a stand for the longest time that sold fry bread, so delicious. I would love fry bread more than just in the summer, sadly they closed their business during Covid. 😢
13:19 my band
My friend, Tammy, is Navajo at Shiprock NM😊
One of the few things actually made in america
And the tortillas are buttered and salted 😋
Looks goood I wanna try some !!!
Oh my, you saw it as a child, then your kids saw it too, wow
Yes, the kids were all the neighborhood kids that would gather at that spot to catch the school bus in the morning.
Wow, awesome stories, thats very scary for a child of 8 yrs. I bet you had nightmares after that. Thx
Interesting stories. Thanks for sharing them.
57:54 my band!

Crazy man 🤙🏽
💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
Wow mom made some excellent fry bread it looked very tasty, I liked the soft freshness of the bread❤
Great video as always, just letting you know that in the title it says "Bbread" lol.
Can't wait to make this
Oh my, you two are having so much fun. And Alice, you make it look so so easy. Your explanation of the flour/baking powder ratio is brilliant. Thank you. I love fry bread - Navajo tacos; cinnamon sugar fry bread; chili cheese fry bread; and fruit pudding fry bread.
Diabetes...no thanx.
Praying for the people of Hawaii. May God keep you safe. Thank you for sharing with us.
I enjoyed your video. Your Mom is sweet , and I like her standard of measuring! I would like to try making Navajo fry bread. It looks delicious!
Here in Corpus Christi, Tx I went with Friends to a wonderful Pow Wow. Some Navaho ladies were making fry bread. It was delicious.
Four Corners.
That was so enjoyable to watch - I measure by hand like your mother when I make tortillas...it would be so odd for me to measure it all out after eye balling it all these years. Now what I can't do is roll by hand 😊 she's expert at it.
I wish someone would open a NA resturant. Love frybred
The oil is way too hot ……
Yes it's pretty hot, but she was taught to cook fry bread when grease starts smoking then turn it down a ltittle. I guess everyone has their own style.
Look at her beautiful home. I wonder when her children were little would she dare dream to have such a lovely home? God is good.
I don't think it's her home - her son thanked her for coming to Hawaii to visit.
What a sweet mama. Sprinkle a little powdered sugar and cinnamon on them. Too delicious!
Lololol😂love you two!!
I’m from México and when you started to make the preparation I realice we have the same roots, the Flour Tortilla is almost the same. Thank you for share the Navajo Bread with us.
Are you using a mic I love it someone professional finally
Lot more complicated than my fried bread. I use self rising flour, olive oil , water. Then fry it. Love with honey and butter.
Yes, mom has used self rising flour before. The recipe in the video is made with basic Navajo fry bread ingredients. The best powered milk for fry bread the Navajos used was that provided by the US Government with their commodites program, making for some delicious fry bread in the 60's and 70's. The commodites program when the way of the dodo bird in the late 70's I believe.
@@Apachewolf Oh yes I remember commodities, the canned peanut butter, canned syrup, powdered milk...cornmeal. Canned orange juice too I think...then came food stamps. It seems all these *programs* were designed to keep the poor people poor and to rely on the guv in order to exist 🙁. They gave lard in a can too didn't they?
Aw she’s a sweet heart loved your video❤
So those are the good looking fry breads.I have to try your recipe and using lard instead of vegetable oil.thanks for sharing.
🎉I always made my biscuits with powdered milk😊
This is the best fry bread video ever!! Can I use evaporated milk in place of the powdered milk??
I'm not sure about evaporated milk, but powdered milk does give it a unique flavor.
Hi I just discovered your RUclips channel. I love frybread. Thank you for the beautiful time with you and your Mom. I will have to try making it.
Thank you! You have a very kind natural way about you! I’m going to make these tomorrow! Thank you , bless you always!❤
Daddy made the fry bread and he wasn't the Native! His people are from Switzerland! Mom's side are Cherokee, but she left the fry bread to him. He sneaked a little dash of sugar in the dough 😊
Cool!
My nephew makes the best fry bread , beautiful golden brown fluffy and thick his Shoshone Paiute.❤❤❤❤❤❤
We heated by a tin stove in the sixty’s and seventies I lived in Tenn
I’m going to make this !
🤣Love the measurements
Hello I’m so glad I found your video You speak Navajo so well I’m so impressed
Lol... I wish I could speak it fluently. Mom didn't let us talk it around the house, maybe she thought we would talk about her...lol. So I picked up what I could from my cousins.
Are you full Navajo. You did said you were in Hawaii right
@@amyyazzie249 I'm half First Nation of Canada and half bilagáana as you can tell from my mother. My navajo step father raised me on the Navajo reservation. Dene of BC Canada and Dine are closely related, they speak the same root language.
@@Apachewolf wow that’s amazing so glad to meet you
I was very impressed how you spoke Navajo so well. Most Navajo don’t speak their own language right. I raised my children off the Reservation and my children lost our language I didn’t realized it until it was gone. I can understand and speak Navajo I just don’t have anyone right to speak it with. I lived in Minnesota most of my life.
